FINALISTS HAVE BEEN SELECTED FOR THE MALAGA 4K FEST 2020 AFTER RECEIVING 324 SHORT FILMS FROM 35 COUNTRIES

The 4K short film festival awards ceremony will take place on Friday, November 20th, in a virtual format.

A committee of experts from Festival de Málaga has selected, among 324 short films from 35 countries, from all  5 continents, the 21 finalists of Málaga 4K Fest, an international short film festival in 4K-Ultra High Definition (UHD) organized by Medina Media Events and whose technical direction is in charge of Festival de Málaga.

Málaga 4K Fest is the main festival worldwide for short films made in 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) and has the support of companies that for years have been committed to 4K: RTVE, Atresmedia-Atreseries, Dolby, Best Digital, Grupo ADM (Audiovisual Digital Multimedia) and Medina Media 4K, who are also the sponsors of the prizes awarded to the winners.

This selection takes place after receiving a total of 324 short films, from 35 countries, from all  5 continents. In addition to the list of countries that already participated in the last edition, we have countries like Australia, Philippines, Tunisia, Austria, Bulgaria and Croatia which have also joined the Malaga 4K Fest 2020.

The total number of short films received this year come mainly from Spain (255), France (17), Brazil (9), Argentina (9), Iran (8), Egypt (7), Mexico (6), Peru (4), Colombia (3), Italy (3), Turkey (3), Germany (2), India (2), United States (2), South Korea (2), Australia (1), Austria (1), Belgium (1), Bulgaria (1), Canada (1), Croatia (1), Cuba (1), Greece (1), Honduras (1), Malaysia (1), Paraguay (1), Philippines (1), Syria (1), Tunisia (1), United Kingdom (1), and Uruguay (1). Some have also been produced in other countries such as Cyprus, Andorra, Japan, and the Netherlands.

Once the finalists have been selected, a jury made up of relevant people from the sector will select the winners of the seven categories and the awards of the festival:

ADM GROUP AWARD TO THE BEST SHORT FILM. Prize of three thousand euros (3.000,00), to the best short film.

MEDINA MEDIA 4K AWARD TO THE BEST DIRECTOR. Prize of two thousand euros (2.000,00), to the short film with the best direction.

ATRESERIES AWARD TO THE BEST SHORT FILM FOR TV. Prize of one thousand euros (1.000,00), plus broadcasting and promotion of the short film in Atreseries, including interview of its director, to the best adaptable short film for tv.

AWARD FOR BEST PHOTOGRAPHY. Prize of one thousand euros (1.000,00), to the short film with the best photography.

ULTRA HIGH DEFINITION AWARD. Prize of two thousand one hundred and sixty euros (2.160,00), for the best use of as many UHD technologies as possible in a short film.

DOLBY/BEST DIGITAL AWARD FOR BEST SOUND. Prize of one thousand euros (1.000,00 ), plus Dolby Atmos sound mastering, to the short film with best sound.

RTVE AWARD TO THE BEST FILM SCHOOL SHORT FILM. Prize of one thousand euros (1.000,00), plus broadcasting of the short film in the program “Versión Española”, cannel La 2 of TVE, to the best short film made by a film school.

The award ceremony of Málaga 4K Fest will take place on Friday 20th November, in a virtual format, through a digital platform developed by Medina Media Events.
